Sited in a field overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks in the background, the house is designed to accommodate a large family of avid sailors and sports enthusiast. There is a boat house with a dock, a soccer field and a beach volleyball court. Exterior stone work keeps this house of 10 gables visually anchored to site. Vermont Slate roof keeps it natural and local. Ample porches and patios connect the inside spaces with the outside living areas. The large open space above the garage features a bar and entertainment area for family gatherings. A solar field and heat-pump HVAC system make for near-net-zero energy use. A lakeside spa and patio provide a spot for absorbing the sunsets over the Adirondacks.

This new build is a 4,300 sq. ft., two-story house with sweeping views south down the Mad River Valley. It is positioned for passive solar gain and a robust roof-mounted solar panel array. The house will be built with a Passive-House high-performance envelope and details. The interior is an open floor plan with structural timber frame trusses from local materials. It will be a blend of traditional timber frame, blackened steel, polished concrete with natural wood accents. Target completion: Fall 2020

This shingle style house on the shore of Lake Champlain was 8 years in design. The house is set on a site the family has owned for several generations. The goal given to architect Ramsay Gourd was to create a distinctive family home that would serve the current and future generations. The end result is a home in the classic shingle style, complete with flared shingle walls, natural stone columns, a slate roof with massive eaves, gracious porches, coffered ceilings and a glassed-in family room. The home features four bedrooms and first-floor guest suite. There is an outdoor shower and a mahogany clad living room.

Set on a knoll, at 1,800 ft. elevation, in the town of Walden, this contemporary post and beam captures the pastoral views of the Northeast Kingdom. Large European triple glaze windows and lift-slide doors provide uncompromising performance without sacrificing views. With a high-efficiency heat-pump HVAC system and a field-mounted array of solar panels, the house minimizes its footprint. Designed by architect Ernie Ruskey, of Tektonika, to take advantage of the southern views, the house features large south-facing decks on both levels. There is a music room separated by shoji screen doors that slide away and transform the great room into a performance space. The wood ceilings enhance the acoustical comfort of the great room space and provide visual warmth. Anticipated completion in August 2020.

This house, is a Net-Zero family retreat situated high above Warren Village; from this spot it captures stunning views across to the slopes of Sugarbush. The main house is a 2,000 sq. ft. gable structure connected to a detached garage with living suite above. A roof solar array off sets the electrical consumption of the mechanical systems for whole house operation. The exterior is all black steel with a large Ipe deck for gathering and hot tub soaking. The vaulted main level is a bright, soaring space with exposed blackened steel trusses and a full gable wall of glass framing the mountain views. A small loft site above the kitchen, and a custom steel and oak stair, leads to the bedroom spaces at the walkout lover level.
