Stowe Mountain Ski Cottage

ARCHITECT: Don Welch PHOTOS: Lindsay Selin Photography

This mountain cottage was designed to accommodate two Burlington-area families, who found themselves traveling most weekends to Stowe during the winter ski season.  Anchored into a wooded hillside only minutes from the ski mountain, the house features a large common-area great room and kitchen. The wood stove and radiant heat floors keep the space cozy, on even the coldest mountain nights. There are master suites on both levels and a kids’ bunk room on the lower level. Wood walls warm the interior spaces. Corten, Stainless and Western Red Cedar siding, along with the standing-seam roof, provide a modern mountain aesthetic for the exterior.
